FORT COLLINS, CO
Brenna and Iman met up with us at in Fort Collins for their Horsetooth Reservoir engagement session at the end of May, which is definitely one of the most magical places to be this time of year. The rolling landscape is covered in green and speckled with wildflowers, a beautiful spring scene that quickly fades to gold come early summer. We often travel for work these days, but we are lucky to say that this little slice of heaven is in our own backyard and even though we’ve been many times before, it’s still just as breathtaking as when we first visited.
Spring at Horsetooth Reservoir is gorgeous. As the snow melts and the weather begins to warm, the reservoir comes to life with vibrant colors and lush greenery. The trees and plants start to bloom, transforming the surrounding landscape into a picturesque scene. It’s a time of renewal and rejuvenation, where the natural beauty of the reservoir is on full display. Whether you’re hiking, boating, or simply taking in the view, spring at Horsetooth Reservoir is a sight to behold.
We began the session along the backside of the reservoir at Lory State Park near the Arthur’s Rock trailhead. We love having the chance to get to know couples better before the big day and we were in very good company with these two. Brenna and Iman met while attending Colorado State University in town, got engaged last winter and are now planning their September wedding.
Judging by the clouds that swooped in, it looked as if it might rain, but we lucked out when the wind pulled the storm in another direction. We stayed at Lory long enough to get a glimpse of the sun as it slipped behind the foothills before taking off to the other side of the reservoir. It’s funny how driving ten minutes around the bend can buy you nearly another hour of light and we didn’t take it for granted!
Soaking up all that golden glow, Brenna and Iman sat for some beautiful portraits on a cliff above the water’s edge and graciously listened to me when I couldn’t stop remarking at how beautiful this scene was! Toward the end, we hit up the iconic Rotary Park for a couple of portraits on the boulders as the sun was setting. We can’t wait for their wedding in September, but in the meantime, enjoy some of our favorite images from their Horsetooth Reservoir engagement session!
