Estes Park Wedding Photos
Kris & Katie’s Landing at Estes Park wedding really had it all, endless moments, a beautiful riverside ceremony, an epic first look in Rocky Mountain National Park, and perfect timing as we dodged the rain at every important part of the day.
Kris and Katie traveled from Texas, and throughout the day they were openly appreciative of how different Colorado feels, especially in Estes Park, where the mountains are a constant presence no matter where you turn. We loved that these two were always so appreciative of the awe-inspiring beauty here in Colorado! Their Landing at Estes Park wedding had that incredible energy, even with weather moving in and out. The rain threatened on and off, but the timing worked out in the best possible way. Every important segment—first looks, portraits, ceremony—all aligned to dodge the rain!
The morning of their Landing at Estes Park wedding began on-site with both sides getting ready in different spaces. Katie spent her morning in the Ladybird Suite with her bridesmaids. She and her bridesmaids popped champagne and shared a few celebratory sips!
Meanwhile, Kris started the day by the river with his guys, taking advantage of the setting before heading to get ready in one of the chalets. One of the awesome parts about getting married at The Landing at Estes Park is that you can keep the entire day in one place while still giving everyone their own space.
After Katie was dressed, we headed out to Moraine Park for their first look. Moraine Park is an epic spot in Rocky Mountain National Park. Kris was visibly excited to see Katie, and the moment played out with the kind of honest emotion! They soaked up the views for a minute, then did rock-paper-scissors to decide who would read vows first.
They read their vows privately there, and it got emotional quickly. After vows, we took a few portraits with the Moraine Park views, keeping it simple and letting the setting carry the background without overworking the timeline.
When we returned, the day shifted into wedding party moments. Katie did a first look with her bridesmaids, then another with the groomsmen. There was plenty of laughter—especially when Katie iced the groomsmen, which fully caught them off guard. Before the ceremony, we took wedding party portraits down by the river. That’s one of the signature elements of a Landing at Estes Park wedding: you can step outside and be at the river in minutes, with mountain views layered behind you.
Their ceremony took place right by the river, and it was genuinely sweet. Katie walked down the stairs to the Jurassic Park theme song—a surprise that made the moment both funny and memorable. Kris got emotional as soon as he realized what was happening. The ceremony space was framed by a gorgeous flower arch, and with the river and mountains behind it.
Mid-ceremony, a hummingbird showed up. It was brief but noticeable—close enough that guests saw it and reacted, and it felt like one of those moments you can’t plan.
After the ceremony, the reception continued the same mix of warmth and fun. They shared their first dance, then moved into toasts in the reception hall. While dinner happened, the storm finally broke outside, which worked out perfectly since everyone was indoors anyway.
Later in the evening, we stepped out for a couple of portraits overlooking the mountains and down by the river. Evening light in Estes Park shifts quickly, and even with clouds from the storm, it created a softer look that matched the mood of the later part of the day. Then everyone went back inside for dancing and they topped the evening off with an epic tambourine exit. Congrats guys!
